COP 2 Practical Idea Generation

Anarchy, Descent and anti-establishment

How can these topics show through design?

Editorial- Looking at Freedom Press and 'Anarchy Magazine' (Colin Ward) produce a publication of anarchist/ anti-establishment/ left wing style views? Ask for students views to form the content of the publication. Looking at Rufus Segar 'Anarchy' Cover design as well as his other political illustrations/designs. This could be accompanied by a guerilla style ad campaign.

Ad campaign - Using ideas behind anarchism and descent, produce an ad campaign to get social attention on the publication and/or online article. Play on social commentary, look at miners strikes campaigns ('In memory of work') the artwork throughout the protests of the 80's and how the people spread the world about that and how it worked.

Online Publication - online content inspired by anarchy publications, using design which shows the real face of anarchy - look at online news outlets and online content sites, how it can seem online and using hashtags and online links through keywords) Look on twitter and Instagram how images can be spread virally. Instagram, raising awareness through imagery, online articles

Political - propaganda exploring political ideologies of Anarchism. Look at the ideas and beliefs of anarchism, the social topics which they focus on and act on, a manifesto of ideas perhaps a zine in the anarchist style which explores anarchist ideas. Focussing on the ideas rather than the style.

Culture - producing a zine/publication/poster that explores the subcultures and styles inspired by anarchism. Taking inspiration from music, fashion, and art to represent the styles which anarchism is known for.
