SB2 - Development - Feedback

DEVELOPMENT - Anarchy Poster/feedback

Through peer feedback it was realised that the strongest idea for the design of the posters would be purely typographic outcomes, printed using a traditional method (mono print, screen print, hand-set wood type prints). Before going to print the outcomes had to be realised digitally to know which style and layout will work and also what colours to use. Through mocking up these tests using the letter A a better understanding for which styles to use became clear, attempting styles used by 'Anarchy' to get the true anarchy style through. Through thee experiments it became clear that the print method had to be quick and clean yet also have a DIY aesthetic. Screen print would offer a fast method of simple print, although the preparation would take whole days, though the screen would remain in the same position, the paper can be positioned differently for each print so to get a different angle and a sense of anarchy within the design, though monoprint also offers this fast style of print and can also produce rougher more unclean prints which would fit the aesthetic perfectly.

Taking these designs I asked the peers in my class which styles they preferred from the above mock ups so I have a clear Idea of what styles people think are clearer and more relevant. The response was that the single letters on the black background were the clearest and would make good prints, also that through mono print, each print can be different, and that experimentation should be done with it through monoprinting.

The aim now is to print out the individual letters of 'Anarchy' in Helvetica bold in its largest point size that fits on A3 paper (A3 would be the size of the poster) these cut outs will hopefully work as depicted in the above designs.
